I don’t think people realize how important their mana bar is in RL. You need mana to do just about everything in life and the more you have, the better you do whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. And if your mana gets too low, then the energy starts coming out of your health bar.
This is one of the serious issues of Western culture. We pride ourselves on long hours…but when people inevitably don’t have the mana regen to sustain that kind of output long term, they turn to coffee, sugar, and energy drinks. Unfortunately, both factors combined create a concoction that has serious negative effects on your health bar. Stress-related illnesses are quite common, and it’s widely accepted that stress has a large number of health consequences for any organism.
Unfortunately still, in order to manage stress, people turn to things that make the situation worse. Things like television, junk food, donuts, drugs, soda, and alcohol. You see, there’s nothing “wrong” with any of these things until they become in excess. But that’s exactly what happens when people try to counteract their low mana with things that give them a temporary spike in their mana. It’s like chugging a bunch of minor mana potions instead of taking the time to regenerate naturally.
But if you’re like me and you’re impatient, there are a lot of things you can do to increase your mana regen rate. Eating healthy, cooking dinner every night, drinking water, going outside, meditating, praying, turning off screens, spending time in nature, socializing with people…all of these things can be great for boosting long-term mana regeneration.
For me, living a balanced and healthy life has always been the key to increasing energy levels as a result of having a mostly full mana bar throughout the day. This allows me to cast bigger spells like earning more money, having a better relationship, and managing my emotions throughout the day. I feel the best when my mana bar is full. But an empty mana bar can also feel quite enjoyable. It means I did some serious spell casting that day.
That’s when I like to sit back and enjoy a glass of my favorite scotch. Scotch is a funny thing. It’s so magical. A shiny, golden liquid with a strong aroma and almost overwhelming taste…it’s so pure. I believe it to cure ailments in my body. It’s the ultimate potion. But it can also be the ultimate poison. If I drink it in the middle of the day for example, it does not boost my mana bar…in fact, it drains it severely.
I find that compelling that there are some activities that boost your mana only if done at the right time. I wonder what other things are like this.
Another thing I find interesting is that it seems like higher quality products have a more positive impact on your mana. For example, if you grow your own food and give it lots of care and attention, you can effectively raise the quality of that food. The same is true if you pray over a meal while you prepare it, but the simple act of preparation imbues the food with a certain magical power. I mean, come on…there’s a reason why people still cook even though it takes four times as long to cook it as it does to eat it.
What sort of things do you do that help boost your mana?
What sort of things do you *think* are boosting your mana, but actually probably are not?
